Mattison Enjoys Great Week With Jamestown

08.05.2008 | Baseball

Former Bulldog center-fielder Kevin Mattison is on a tear with the Jamestown Jammers of the New York Penn League. The Florida Marlins draft pick hit .359 last week and raised his batting average to .253.

Mattison has had a hit in eight of his last nine games and enjoyed at least two hits in five of those games. Kevin went 3-for-4 last night with a walk in an 18-3 loss at Auburn.

In a game against Mahoning Valley on July 31, he went 2-for-4 with three runs scored. The next night Mattison went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a double against Mahoning Valley.

Kevin enters this week's action with a .253 average, six doubles, two triples, 10 RBI and nine stolen bases. Jamestown (28-17) is in first pace in the Pinckney Division by one game over Auburn.

Former Bulldog pitcher Alan DeRatt pitched once last week in relief and did a great job. He tossed two scoreless innings against Ogden, striking out two and allowing just one hit.

DeRatt lowered his ERA to 5.71. He has 20 strikeouts in 17.1 innings of work.
