Mattison on a Tear With Jamestown; DeRatt Has Two Solid Performances

08.25.2008 | Baseball

Former UNC Asheville outfielder Kevin Mattison is ending his first professional season on a roll as he's helping lead the Jamestown Jammers to a possible division title.

Mattison has at least one hit in seven of his last eight games. He's raised his average to .248 with seven doubles, four triples, three home runs, 16 RBI and 12 stolen bases. His top game came on Sunday night when he went 3-for-6 with a stolen base at Auburn.

Kevin has Jamestown right in the middle of a pennant race that could go down to the final day of the season. The Jammers are a half-game back of Batavia in the Pinckney Division of the New York Penn League. Jamestown has won four straight games going into tonight's game at Auburn.

Former Bulldog pitcher Alan DeRatt has pitched well for Casper in his last two outings. He pitched twice last week and did not give up a run or hit in either appearance.

DeRatt pitched two innings against Great Falls on Aug. 20 and struck out two in two innings of work. On Aug. 23 against Orem, he pitched 1.1 innings of work with three strikeouts and no hits allowed.

Alan has lowered his ERA to 4.94 with 22 strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched.
