Mattison Has Great Week for Jamestown

Former Bulldog center-fielder Kevin Mattison played in all six games for the Jamestown Jammers of the New York Penn League last week. He had at least one hit in four of the games and enjoyed his first three-hit performance in professional baseball.

 

Mattison raised his batting average 12 points to .230 during the week. His top game came on Wednesday against the Aberdeen Ironbirds. Mattison went 3-for-5 with an RBI and two stolen bases as he helped Jamestown post an 8-6 win over Aberdeen. On Sunday, He went 2-for-6, one double and two stolen bases as the Jammers downed State College 13-5.

 

Mattison is hitting .230 on the season with four doubles, two triples, one home run, eight RBI and five stolen bases.

 

Former Bulldog pitcher Alan DeRatt suffered his first loss of the season for the Casper Ghosts of the Pioneer League on Sunday. He had a tough outing in relief against Helena as he allowed seven runs in 0.2 innings of work.

 

The Cary native is 2-1 on the season with a 6.43 ERA. He has struck out 16 in 14 innings of work.

 

Former Bulldog outfielder Rob Vernon is still playing for the Chillicothe Painters of the Frontier League. He played in three games last week. Vernon is hitting .218 with two doubles, two triples, one home run and nine RBI.
