Alan DeRatt Promoted to Modesto

DeRatt Continues to Excel in Casper

Former UNC Asheville pitcher Alan DeRatt continues to have a solid start to his professional career. Last week, DeRatt pitched in two games in relief for the Casper Ghosts in the Pioneer League and did not allow a run.

 

The Cary native pitched against Missoula on July 8 and went 2.1 innings of work, striking out three, allowing no hits and walking just one. He pitched at Helena on July 12 and went 1.2 innings. DeRatt got into a little trouble with three walks but pitched out of it with two strikeouts.

 

For the season, the former Bulldog ace has a 2.13 ERA with a 2-0 overall record. He has 14 strikeouts in just 12.2 innings of work.

 

Former Bulldog center-fielder Kevin Mattison continues to start and play the same position for the Jamestown Jammers of the New York Penn League.

 

Last week, Mattison played in seven games and had a hit in five contests. He is hitting .218 with two doubles, two triples, one home run and six RBI.

 

Former Bulldog left-fielder Rob Vernon is playing the same spot for the Chillicothe Paints of the Frontier Independent League. Vernon enters the second half of the season with a .225 average with two doubles, two triples, one home run and nine RBI.
