COLUMBUS, OHIO ? #13 Ohio State kept the nation's longest winning streak going with an 83-59 victory over visiting UNC Asheville Monday night

The Bulldogs (4-8) were led in scoring by John Williams with 10 points and six rebounds. Eric Stubbs was a perfect 4-of-4 from the field and finished with eight points.

The win was the Buckeyes' 14th in a row dating back to last season when they won the NIT.  Ohio State was led by a career-high 19 points from B.J. Mullens. The 7-1 center went 8-of-11 from the field and had eight rebounds.

“We played a little better tonight and had a good effort but we let them make a big run at the end of the first half that really hurt us,” explained UNC Asheville coach Eddie Biedenbach. “We just didn't do a good enough job of guarding their jump shooters and they made us pay for it.”

The Bulldogs made a gallant run in the first half to get back in the game. Oho State led 27-12 with eight minutes to go in the half before Asheville went on a 9-0 run to close to 27-21. Four different players scored for the Bulldogs to get close.

Asheville got to 29-24 and had a chance to get closer as a Chris Stephenson three-pointer rimmed out. The Buckeyes ended the half with an 8-0 run in the last two minutes to lead 37-24 at halftime.

“If we could have finished the first half stronger then we could have had a chance to make it even closer,” added Biedenbach.

UNC Asheville plays again on Dec. 31 when the Bulldogs host Western Carolina at Justice Center starting at 4 p.m.
