Volleyball Falls in Four at Radford

RADFORD, Va.?Kelsey Benorden had a team-high 15 kills while Heather Burns and Cindi Miller each had 11 kills but UNC Asheville could not overcome a balanced Radford attack as the Highlanders took a 25-23, 25-23, 22-25, 25-21 victory on Friday night.
Asheville dropped its fourth-straight match and fell to 8-9 on the season and 0-4 in the Big South. Radford improved to 7-9, 2-4 in the Big South.
Megan McWhorter led the Highlanders with 15 kills and 11 digs. Laura Waddell added 13 kills as Radford out-hit Asheville .228-.146 in the match. The Highs had three players record double-figure digs as they out-dug the Dogs 63-58 and out-blocked Asheville 9-6.
Raquel Miotto led all players with 26 digs but she was the only Bulldog in double-figures.
“We played a lot better than we did on Tuesday,” said Asheville head coach Julie Torbett. “We are continuing to get better and that is all I can ask for. Radford is a much improved team and they played well tonight. We are still adjusting our lineup but I am encouraged by the way we played tonight.”
UNC Asheville will face Liberty on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. while Radford hosts Presbyterian at 2 p.m.
