Benorden Named All Tournament; Dogs Drop Two on Saturday

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.? Freshman Kelsey Benorden was named to the Country Inns & Suites Challenge All-Tournament team but UNC Asheville dropped both matches on Saturday to Chattanooga and Tennessee Tech.
Benorden had 10 kills and eight digs in the opening match against Chattanooga (2-4). Alysha Greer led the Bulldogs (1-8) with 14 kills in the match. Raquel Miotto had 16 digs while Brooke Holliday added 15 digs.
Asheville hit .126 against the Mocs falling 30-28, 30-24, 30-17. The Bulldog hitting struggles continued against Tennessee Tech (5-5) as the Dogs hit .079 in falling to the Golden Eagles 32-30, 30-12, 30-13.
Benorden once again had 10 kills and eight digs giving her double-figure kills in all three matches. Greer had 11 kills and two blocks giving her two straight double figure kill matches.
Miotto and Holliday combined for 17 and 10 digs respectively.
Asheville will return home on Tuesday to face North Carolina Central at 7 p.m. in the Justice Center. The match will be broadcast live on the internet at www.bigsouthsports.com.
