Volleyball Falls at Presbyterian

CLINTON, S.C.?UNC Asheville placed three players in double-figures in kills but could not overcome a strong hitting Presbyterian team that won its 12-straight match 30-27, 30-23, 30-28.

Kelsey Benorden led the Bulldogs (6-10) with 14 kills and 12 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Lauren Ficker and Heather Burns each chipped in 12 kills for Asheville who hit .225 on the match.

Presbyterian (12-4) hit an amazing .400 on the match led by Lauren Mason who had 17 kills, zero errors, on 30 swings for a .567 percentage and Kelsey McKee who had 12 kills, one error, on 19 swings for a .579 percentage. Justin Lancherster also hit .500 with 11 kills, one error, on 20 swings. The Blue Hose had just six hitting errors on the match and out-blocked the Dogs 6-1.

Elizabeth Heineman led all defensive players with 15 digs while Raquel Miotto posted a team high 13 digs for Asheville which held a slim 51-49 digging advantage. Both teams had seven aces on the match.

Asheville returns to the Justice Center on Sunday to face Jacksonville University in a 2 p.m. match. The match will be video streamed on the Big South Edge at bigsouthsports.com.
