ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville women's soccer coach Michele Cornish has announced her captains for the 2007 season. They are senior defender Kate Barrow and senior midfielder Shoshana Fried.
The defending Big South Conference champions begin practice for the 2007 season in mid-August and play an exhibition game against Mars Hill on Saturday, Aug. 18 at Greenwood Field starting at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs open the 2007 season at home on Sunday, Sept. 2 against Tennessee Tech at Greenwood Field beginning at 2 p.m.
Asheville has enjoyed a great deal of success the past three years, winning two Big South Conference regular-season titles in 2004 and 2005 before advancing to the NCAA Tournament in 2006 for the first time in school history.
"We're excited about the challenges of the 2007 season," admitted Cornish. "We have two great leaders in Kate Barrow and Shoshana Fried to lead the way. Those two have meant a great deal to our success over the past few years and should be great leaders both on and off the field this season."
