ASHEVILLE, N.C. ? Coastal Carolina recorded 15 service and had Jill Nyhoff with 18 kills as the Chanticleers defeated UNC Asheville, 3-1 in Big South Conference volleyball action at Justice Center Saturday afternoon. CCU won the match, 30-18, 29-31, 30-27, 30-25.

“We did not do a good job passing the ball today,” commented UNC Asheville coach Julie Torbett. “You can't give up 15 services aces and expect to win. I was pleased that we battled back in each game and gave ourselves a chance to win but we kept putting ourselves behind every game and that's hard to battle back.”
CCU controlled the first game from the start and cruised to a 30-19 win. The Bulldogs rallied in the second game and built a 22-17 lead only to see the Chanticleers come back and take a 23-22 lead.

In the fourth game, Coastal Carolina sprinted ahead and took an 18-10 lead. Thompson had four kills and two of her blocks in the early run.
