BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Edmund Lockear drove in six runs in game one and added another RBI hit in game two to lead UNC Asheville to a pair of victories at Campbell 10-8 and 5-3 on Saturday.

Kevin Mattison, Rob Vernon and Lockear each had three hits in the first game as Asheville (3-3) battled back from a 5-3 deficit. The Bulldogs scored four runs in the fifth inning to regain the lead.

Matt Henson and Elliott Arrington each had one singles. Vernon drove in Henson with a base hit and Kyle Smith then singled and an error on the left fielder allowed Arrington to score and Smith and Vernon to move to second and third. Locklear doubled in both runners to put the Bulldogs up 7-5.

Campbell (0-5) answered with a run in the bottom of the inning to pull to within one run. Asheville got two more in the seventh. After Arrington walked and Vernon reached on an error, Smith sacrificed the runners to second and third. Locklear singled up the middle to drive in both runs.

Once again the Camels answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 9-8. Vernon led off the ninth with a double, moved to third on a wild pitch and scored when John Whited's fly ball was miss played in right field.

Michael Bogaert (1-0) picked up the win in relief throwing 2.1 giving up two runs on four hits. Ben Buchanan pitched the final two innings to record his first save of the season.

In the nightcap, The Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead with one run in the third, two in the fourth, and one in the seventh.

In the third, David Williams walked, Whited bunted back to the pitcher, but the throw went into centerfield to put runners on first and second. Justin Shumer lead down a squeeze bunt to score Williams with the first run.

In the fourth, Vernon singled with one out, stole second, and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Smith walked and Locklear doubled home Vernon. Smith scored on a ground out by Williams to make it 3-0.

The Bulldogs made it 4-0 in the seventh as Mattison singled home Whited.

Campbell made a game of it in the bottom of the seventh with a run and then added two in the eighth to make it 4-3.

Asheville picked up an insurance run in the ninth, Schumer reached on an error and moved up to second on a wild pitch. Henson singled him home to bring the score to 5-3.

Schumer pitched the final inning and a third giving up just one hit to save the game for Graham Baughn who went seven innings and gave up just one run on seven hits.

The Bulldogs will return to action on Tuesday as they travel to Gardner-Webb for a 2:30 game.
