CONWAY, S.C. - Edmund Locklear went 2-for-5 with three RBI for UNC Asheville but Coastal Carolina went on to win the regular season finale 13-5 Sunday afternoon at Watson Stadium.

The Chanticleers (29-25, 15-9 Big South) earned the number three seed in next week's Bojangles Big South Conference Tournament. Coastal will face the No. 4 seed High Point at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. No. 2 seed Winthrop will face No. 5 seed Liberty at 3 p.m.

UNC Asheville (24-32, 10-14 Big South) qualifies for the tournament for the first time since 2004 and will be the No. 6 seed. The Bulldogs will face the top seed Birmingham-Southern in the first game of the tournament at 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

Kevin Mattison got returned to the Asheville line up for the first time in the three -game series and went 1-for-2 extending his hitting streak to 12 straight games matching the longest streak of the season for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs trailed 11-0 going to the sixth inning. Tony Wall reached on an error to lead off the inning. Rob Vernon followed with an RBI double off the left-field fence to score Wall with the Bulldogs' first run of the game. Elliott Arrington who had two hits in the game and five hits in the series singled to put runners at first and third. Nathan Durham got a single to lead the bases with no one out. Locklear followed with a two-RBI single to score Vernon and Arrington. John Watlington hit a sacrifice fly to score Durham to make the score 11-4.

Coastal added to more runs in the eighth inning on a two-run home run by David Anderson to push the Chanticleers ahead 13-4.

Asheville scored a run in the top of the ninth. Vernon had a one out single. After a walk and a single loaded the bases, Locklear grounded out to score Vernon from third base. The Bulldogs had 12 hits but stranded 10 men on base in the game.

John Mariotti got the win for Coastal to improve to 5-2 on the season. He went five innings giving up just three hits and struck out five batters. Michael Bogaert took the loss to fall to 3-4. He went three and two thirds giving up six runs on seven hits.
