ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville men's and women's tennis team picked up a win over area foe Mars Hill College Wednesday afternoon at the UNCA Tennis Center. The Bulldog men's squad won all six singles matches to win, 6-0, while the women's squad picked up five singles victories to earn a 5-1 triumph.
"We're very pleased to get these two victories," stated Asheville coach Chase Hodges. "Mars Hill is much improved and battled us tough today. However, I thought we did a good job adjusting and getting the job done."
The UNCA men's team improved its record to 2-1. The Bulldogs won five of the six singles matches in two sets. Freshman John Rambotas needed three sets to edge Diego Rodriguez at the number one position. Rambotas won, 4-6, 6-4, 6-4.
On the women's side, the Bulldogs controlled play in the singles. UNCA's five singles winners won in two sets. Asheville improved its mark to 1-1.
UNC Asheville plays again Saturday morning when both squads host Spartanburg Methodist at 11 a.m.
