Molly Dwyer will enter her second season as an assistant coach for the UNC Asheville women's soccer program in 2020.

Dwyer, who came to the Bulldogs after a stint as the Asheville City Soccer Club captain, joined the Bulldog coaching staff back on Tuesday, August 13, 2019.

"In the time Molly has been here, she has already shown extreme value to our squad," UNC Asheville Head Coach Clifton Bush said. "Molly adds energy, and the players are responding. Her experiences, and championship quality, allow her to guide our student-athletes to reach another level of excellence. Molly brings such a diverse soccer background to our team but communicates with a local touch. I rely on her perspective time and again when making decisions, and her advice has been sharp and insightful. We are all fortunate to have Molly join us and look forward to watching her coaching career grow."

Dwyer, a Knoxville, Tenn. native, spent the 2019 season as the captain for the Asheville City Soccer Club (ACSC). She joined ACSC in their inaugural 2018 season and led their offense to a 10-1 season scoring ten goals. They were unanimously named Club of the Year, and Dwyer was named Carolina Conference Offensive Player of the Year.

"I'm very thankful and excited for this great opportunity here at UNC Asheville," said Dwyer." I cannot wait to hopefully make a difference and share what I have learned throughout my playing career."

As a student-athlete, Dwyer was a four-year member of the Furman University women's soccer team (2014-2017). During her time there, she aided Furman in a Southern Conference Tournament Championship (2015) and a Southern Conference Regular Season Championship (2017).

She garnered multiple awards and honors during her collegiate career, including All-Freshman Team, All-Southern Conference Second Team, Preseason All-Southern Conference First Team, and All-Southern Conference First Team. Dwyer was the team-leading scorer in 2016 and 2017 and Furman's 2018 Team MVP.

While at Furman, Dwyer was a women's soccer SAAC representative for three years while also serving on the SAAC Leadership Board and as SAAC Vice President.

After her four-year undergraduate degree at Furman, she pursued a Masters in Business with Marketing Management at Northumbria University in Newcastle Upon Tyne, England, where she also played for the soccer team. Dwyer played every minute of the 13-0-0 soccer season and aided Northumbria Soccer to a League Championship and National University Championship with 18 goals while being named Team MVP.

In addition to her university career as well as her career with the Asheville City Soccer Club, Dwyer has played with the WPSL sides and the Knoxville Force (2015-2017). At her hometown club, Knoxville Force, she was a Conference Champion in 2015 and 2016 and was a Regional Champion in 2015. In her 2015 season, she was also named a WPSL All-Star.

She received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and a Focus in Communication Studies at Furman University.
