Kyle Stewart joined the UNC Asheville women's soccer coach staff as an assistant coach in June 2016.
Stewart comes to Asheville following a two-year stint at Concord University in Athens, W.Va., where he helped the Mountain Lions to a 1.4 goals per game average over the last two seasons. In addition to his work on the field, Stewart also provided scouting analysis and video breakdown of games and was in charge of all aspects of the strength and conditioning program.
“I am excited to welcome Kyle to our Bulldog soccer family. He brings with him great experience both on and off the field. In addition to having U.S. Soccer Training Center staff experience, Kyle has also been part of a very successful Columbus State staff that won a conference championship as well as second round NCAA tournament experience,” Demko stated. “That kind of program success only comes with a deep-rooted passion and commitment to become better on a daily basis, and that is exactly what we are trying to do here at UNC Asheville. Kyle is a great fit for our program with regard to our core values both in the athletic department and in our program, a piece that is paramount for our staff to lead on a daily basis. Additionally, a great benefit of Kyle joining our staff is his wealth of experience in the office. He has done everything there is to do administratively and therefore will be someone I lean on to enhance our day to day business operations. I look forward to working alongside Kyle and think this will be a very successful partnership."
Prior to his time at Concord, Stewart served as an assistant coach at Columbus State and helped the team win the 2013 Peach Belt Conference Championship as they reached the second round of the 2013 NCAA Tournament. He holds his USSF National ‘C’ License and a NSCAA Goalkeeping Level I Diploma and has also worked at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center (2013-2014) in addition to serving on various camp staffs.
"I am very grateful for this opportunity and would like to thank everyone at UNC Asheville, especially Janet Cone, Terri Brne and Coach Demko,” Stewart stated. “I am excited to be a part of the Bulldog Family and felt right at home the moment I arrived. I would also like to thank Jay Entlich and Amanda Malkiewicz for all they have done for me and my career while I was at Columbus State and Concord University.”
