2021-22 Season (Freshman) - During her first season with Asheville, Shears played in nine games for the Bulldogs...The Charlotte native played a total of 50 minutes, scored nine points, grabbed four rebounds, and dished out three assists...Shears made her debut as a Bulldog on November 15 vs. Mars Hill where she played 12 minutes and picked up an assist...Played a season-high 24 minutes on December 1 vs. Warren Wilson where she went 3-for-7 from the field and scored a season-high seven points...Also appeared in games at North Carolina, Chattanooga, Charleston Southern (twice), Winthrop, Gardner-Webb, Charleston Southern, and Longwood...Her appearance vs. Longwood was in the Big South Tournament semifinals where she scored two points on a pair of free throws and grabbed an offensive rebound.
Prior to UNC Asheville - Shears joins Asheville after spending the 2020-21 season at New Horizons Prep Academy in Atlanta, Georgia...While there, Shears averaged 14 points per game...In high school, Shears was a two-time Defensive Player of the Year and was a team captain...She was also an accomplished track & field athlete as she was an All-Conference selection and qualified for NC State 3A meet in the 400-meter...Has two older sisters that played collegiate basketball at the Division I level as well.
