Overview: Has enjoyed a nice career for the Bulldog program and has been the starter for the Bulldogs the past three years as a goalkeeper...slated to be UNC Asheville's back-up goalkeeper as a freshman in 2006 but was pressed into service only minutes before the Bulldogs opening Big South Conference match against Radford when starter Shanna Brown went down with an injury in warm-ups...did a great job for the Bulldogs as she helped lead UNC Asheville to its first Big South Conference championship since 1995...did a solid job as a sophomore and saved her best for the Big South Tournament where she helped the Bulldogs upset Charleston Southern in the quarterfinals and nearly upset High Point in semifinals...earned Big South All-Tournament for her play in tourney...last name is pronounced lah-zarr...enters 2009 season with 267 career saves and that has her third all-time at UNC Asheville in that category...fourth all-time in shutouts with 11...excellent student who has made Big South Presidential Honor Roll three times, Dean’s List twice and Athletic Director’s 3.0 & Above Club five different times.
2008: Started the final 17 matches of the season and posted three shutouts...earned spot on Murray State Hampton Inn All-Tournament team when she stopped 13 shots against UT-Martin in 0-0 tie (9-7)...made 10 saves in 62 minutes of action against Clemson...earned shutout at Winthrop in 1-0 overtime victory (9-27)...picked up shutout in 3-0 league win at Gardner-Webb (10-4)...made at least six saves in 11 matches.
2007: Starting goalkeeper for most of the season...played in 15 matches and named starter 14 times...top game was in upset win over Charleston Southern in quarterfinals of Big South Tournament (11-8) as she stopped 10 shots and made two saves in PK’s as Bulldogs knocked off Buccaneers...shared shutout in wins over Tennessee Tech (9-2) and VMI (10-28)...made 74 saves on the season...stopped seven shots in 1-0 BST loss to High Point (11-10)...made the Big South All-Academic team for women’s soccer.
2006: UNC Asheville starting goalkeeper for the final 17 matches of the year...played every minute of every match during that time...produced a league-leading 0.82 goals against average...allowed just 14 goals in 16 matches before NCAA Tournament match against UNC Chapel Hill...was especially stingy in league play where she gave up only four goals in eight BSC matches for a 0.47 goals against average...allowed just one goal in three matches during Big South Conference Tournament with overtime shutouts of Birmingham-Southern and Liberty in championship...saved two Liberty PK's in title game that allowed Bulldogs to win, 4-2...made her debut against Austin Peay in opening game but made her first start against Radford as she stopped four shots in a 2-0 win...posted shutouts in the regular season against Liberty, High Point VMI and Campbell...earned Big South second team All-Conference and All-Rookie honors.
Before UNC Asheville: Four-year letter-winner at Cypress Bay HS in Florida...helped lead school to three straight district championships, including undefeated record senior year...played club soccer for Weston Fury for six years...received honorable mention on Sun-Sentinel's all-county team...member of the Miami Herald's all-country third team...very good student who was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish Honors Society.
