Overview: Talented two-way player who last season pitched, played shortstop, third base and in the outfield…red-shirted in 2012 but has been healthy ever since.
2015: Started and played in all 55 games, finishing with a .361 batting average, 30 RBI and 44 runs scored. Houmard had a pair of 21 game on-base streaks during the season and defensively was part of one of the top double play-infields in the country, ranking in the national top-20 in total double plays and double plays per game average. He finished his final season as a national semifinalist for the Brooks Wallace Award, given annually to the nation’s top shortstop, and graduated in May with his degree in Biology.
2014: Played in 47 games and tied for fourth on the team in hitting with .273 average…had 10 doubles, two triples and 14 RBI’s…had 14 multi-hit games…had three hits in two different contests…went 3-for-4 with two doubles at App State (3-8)…had three hits with double and a triple at High Point (5-17)…tallied two hits with run-scoring triple at Furman (3-18)…earned 25 walks on the season with two different games picking up three…drove in two runs with triple at ETSU (2-25)…ended the season strong with hits in six of the last seven games…pitched in three games and did not record a decision.
2013: Asheville’s leading hitter with .321 average…led Bulldogs in RBI’s with 31…scored 27 runs with 10 doubles and two home runs…led team in home runs with three…reached base in 32 straight games and had 12-game hitting streak early in the season…registered 15 mulit-hit games…had four hits in two different contests…went 4-for-5 with two RBI’s and a triple vs. Pittsburgh (3-2)…had big game against Western Carolina (4-3) as he went 4-for-5 with two doubles and two RBI’s…registered three hits, four RBI’s and home run at Charlotte (4-7)…posted three hits in five different contests.
2012: Did not play.
2011: Hit a solid .271 at the plate and went 2-4 on the mound with 6.93 ERA...pitched in 13 games and earned 10 starts...earned first career victory in collegiate debut on the mound as he tossed four shutout innings in 7-6 win over Murray State (2-20)...picked up second win in start over Big South foe High Point (4-17) as he went seven strong innngs of work...first career start was a gem at Western Carolina (3-16) as the threw four shutout innings and allowed just one hit...drove in three runs at Campbell (2-26)...had two hits vs. Campbell (2-25) and Coastal Carolina (3-26).
Before UNC Asheville: Sensational senior season as he hit .390 from the plate and had a 2.00 ERA as a pitcher...named to All-Conference team as a junior and senior...led Rose to a conference championship as a junior and to the semifinals of the state playoffs...played in the East-West All-Star Game in summer of 2010...excellent athlete who also lettered in cross country, soccer and swimming....was All-Conference in both soccer and cross country as a senior.
