UNC Asheville Women’s Golf Opens Season at Tiger Classic

CLEMSON, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team opened its 2026-27 season Monday (Aug. 24) at the Tiger Classic, finishing eighth following 36 holes of competition.

The Bulldogs posted a two-round score of 622 (+46), carding a 316 (+28) in the opening round before shaving 10 strokes off their score with a 306 (+18) in round two.

Breanna Hoese led the way for Asheville, finishing tied for 38th at 9-over par with a two-round score of 153. Hoese made a strong jump in the second round, following an opening-round 79 (+7) with a 74 (+2).

Jordyn Arts finished one stroke behind Hoese, tying for 41st at 10-over par. Arts also improved in the second round, shooting rounds of 79 (+7) and 75 (+3) for a total of 154.

Competing as an individual, Carly Sherman finished tied for 44th at 12-over par. Sherman was consistent throughout the day, posting back-to-back rounds of 78 (+6) for a two-round total of 156.

In her collegiate debut, Praelyn Jirasaraikul finished 46th with a 157 (+13), recording rounds of 78 (+6) and 79 (+7). Sydney Craven followed in 47th after rounds of 80 (+8) and 79 (+7) gave her a total of 159 (+15).

Kate Bennett rounded out Asheville's lineup in 48th at 16-over par. Bennett improved by four strokes during the second round, opening with an 82 (+10) followed by a 78 (+6) and finishing with a total of 160.

Clemson and Augusta finished tied atop the team leaderboard at 3-over par with matching scores of 579, while East Carolina finished one stroke behind at 4-over.

The Tiger Classic marked the first event of UNC Asheville's 2026-27 campaign. Asheville returns to the course Sept. 6-8 for the Golfweek Women's Fall Challenge at the Caledonia Golf & Fish Club on Pawleys Island.
