CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Two UNC Asheville Baseball players earned weekly awards from the Big South Conference today (Monday, May 11), as redshirt junior Branden Barna was named the Relief Pitcher of the Week and Ben Green was named the Freshman of the Week.

Asheville went 2-2 last week on the road, dropping their midweek contest to Western Carolina on Tuesday (May 5) and the series opener at Radford on Friday (May 8) before picking up back-to-back wins in the Radford series on Saturday and Sunday (May 9-10) to clinch the conference series.

Barna made three appearances out of the bullpen on the week, totaling 4.2 innings of relief allowing just one run on five hits with two strikeouts and one walk. He also picked up his first two career saves on back-to-back days in Asheville's series win over Radford.
