Track and Field Returns to Tryon for Big South Indoor Championship

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track and field team is set to compete at the Big South Indoor Track and Field Championships beginning Friday, Feb. 27, and concluding Saturday, Feb. 28. The championship marks the fourth and final time this season that Asheville will compete at Tryon International.
"I'm excited about our athletes' chances and opportunities at the indoor conference championships," said associate head coach Adam Puett. "We've progressively improved throughout the entire indoor season as a program, and championships are where we've historically performed our best."

LAST TIME OUT
School records from Kelechi Anyanwu and Jan Málek highlighted Asheville's regular-season finale at the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational on Feb. 14.
Anyanwu won the men's 400 meters in a school-record time of 48.31, shaving .01 seconds off the previous mark. He also placed second in the open section of the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.82, which ranks No. 5 all-time in program history.
Málek posted a school record in the men's mile invite, crossing in 4:11.11.
Nkosi Jeju placed third in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.34 meters, just .06 shy of his own school record. On the track, he recorded back-to-back season bests in the 60 meters, running 6.94 in the prelims and 6.92 in the semifinals to finish 15th overall.
DaMarr Harvey placed fourth in the men's 200-meter invite with a season-best time of 21.38.
