BIG SOUTH TROPHY TOUR

The Big South Trophy Tour will stop in Asheville tomorrow, with the conference trophies displayed on the concourse during both games of the doubleheader.

LAST TIME OUT

Asheville fell on the road at High Point, 74–48, on Feb. 19. DJ Patrick led all scorers with 17 points behind five made 3-pointers, while Myles Mayfield added 11 points and six rebounds, and Daniel Thomas grabbed a game-high 12 boards. Toyaz Solomon contributed nine points, five rebounds, and four blocks as the Bulldogs recorded 10 total blocks—the program's first double-digit block performance against a Big South opponent since 2014.

STANDINGS UPDATE

With three games remaining in the regular season, Asheville sits fifth in the Big South at 6–7. Presbyterian is fourth at 7–6, while Radford holds third at 8–5. Longwood trails closely at 6–8. High Point leads the league at 13–1, followed by Winthrop at 12–1, with the two teams set to meet tomorrow.

TEAM TAP-IN

Asheville leads the Big South with 10 games featuring multiple 20-point scorers, including three contests in which Toyaz Solomon, Kameron Taylor and Justin Wright each reached the 20-point mark. The Bulldogs are 6-0 in conference play when making at least seven three-pointers.

TAY'S MILESTONES 

Toyaz Solomon became just the 14th player in Big South history—and the third Bulldog—to record 1,000 career points, 500 rebounds, 100 blocked shots, and 100 assists, reaching the rebounding milestone on Feb. 12 at Longwood. He joined the conference's 1,000-point club on Jan. 14 and now has 1,123 career points.

Solomon recorded his 100th career block on Jan. 17, becoming the 53rd player in league history to reach that mark. He now has 116 blocks, ranking 10th in Asheville's record book. He is also a member of the Big South's 500-rebound club with 523 boards and has totaled 124 career assists.

WRIGHT ON TARGET

Justin Wright has started and appeared in all 27 games this season, scoring in double figures in 24 contests. He is averaging 16.7 points per game in conference play. He leads the team with 44 assists and an .809 free throw percentage in league play.

KT'S CONSISTENCY 

Kameron Taylor leads the Big South with 14 games of 20 or more points (10 in conference play). He ranks third in the league in conference scoring at 20.9 points per game.

MORRELL ON THE CLIMB

Head Coach Mike Morrell ranks 14th all-time in Big South history with 128 career victories. His next victory will move him into a tie for 13th-place.

PUTTING IN THE MINUTES

Asheville accounts for four of the conference's top six players in minutes played per game, led by Patrick with 35:00, followed by Taylor in second with 33:52, Wright in fifth with 32:10, and Solomon in sixth with 32:01.  

A LOOK AT RADFORD

Radford enters Saturday's contest on a two-game win streak after an 82–70 victory over Gardner-Webb. Five players scored in double figures, led by Jacob Hudson with 16 points, while Jacob Hogarth recorded a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Del Jones leads the Highlanders in conference play at 19.7 points per game, followed by Dennis Parker Jr. at 18.5. Tyson Brown is Radford's top rebounder at 8.2 boards per game.

Parker leads the Big South and ranks No. 30 nationally with 532 total points and also tops the conference in scoring average at 19.0 points per game. Jaylon Johnson leads the league in steals (55) and steals per game (2.04) and is Radford's top three-point threat with 65 made triples (2.41 per game).

As a team, Radford ranks third in the league in 3-pointers per game (9.6), second in fast-break points (13.8), and third in steals (7.9).

EARLIER THIS SEASON

Asheville defeated Radford, 91–72, on Jan. 10 at the Dedmon Center. The Bulldogs knocked down 11 3-pointers—their most in league play this season—and shot a conference-best .534 from the field.

The victory remains Radford's lone double-digit loss in Big South play and marked the Highlanders' lowest 3-point shooting performance of the season (3-for-26, .115). It was also the first time Asheville held a conference opponent to three made 3-pointers since Feb. 8, 2025, against High Point.
