Bulldogs Travel to Lynchburg for Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational

ASHEVILLE, N.C. – The UNC Asheville track and field team will travel to Liberty University this weekend to compete in the Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational, scheduled for Feb. 13–14 in Lynchburg, Virginia.

Field events will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, starting with the men's weight throw. Track events will open with prelims of the men's 60-meter dash at 1:40 p.m. Results for all events will be available here.

The two-day meet will also be broadcast on ESPN+. Coverage will from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. on Friday, followed by 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. broadcasts on Saturday. To watch Friday's events, click here. To watch Saturday's events, click here.

Last Time Out

The Bulldogs are coming off a strong showing at the ECE Banked is Best Invitational on Jan. 31, securing five individual wins and one relay victory.

Shemarr Session captured the men's 200-meter title with a season-best time of 21.55, marking his second consecutive win in the event. His performance earned him Big South Athlete of the Week honors, announced Feb. 4.

Kelechi Anyanwu followed with a victory in the men's 400 meters, posting a time of 48.47. The standout performance earned him his second Big South Freshman of the Week recognition this season.

Bennett Moreno claimed first place in the men's 1,000 meters with a personal-best time of 2:28.74. On the women's side, Nikole Baikova won the 800 meters in 2:16.34, while Isabel Richardson captured the 3,000 meters in 10:09.84.

Richardson also helped lead the Bulldogs to a win in the distance medley relay, teaming up with Ella Warren, Lily Kelpin, and Aneta Kucerová for a winning time of 12:33.59.

In the field, Gregory Schell recorded a personal best of 14.44 meters in the men's shot put to place third overall.
