ASHEVILLE'S LAST TIME OUT

UNC Asheville earned its first Big South win of the season on Wednesday, defeating Longwood 72–61 at Kimmel Arena. The Bulldogs led for most of the contest, taking a 37–32 advantage into halftime before holding Longwood to 29 second-half points. Kameron Taylor paced Asheville with a game-high 24 points off the bench, while DJ Patrick added 18 points and knocked down six three-pointers. Justin Wright chipped in 11 points as the Bulldogs turned in a balanced offensive effort and limited Longwood to 38.2 percent shooting from the field. 

DAN THE MAN

Redshirt freshman Daniel Thomas posted a strong outing Wednesday, finishing with a season high 10 rebounds and eight points while also setting season highs in minutes (34) and shooting efficiency (4-of-6).

WRIGHT ON TIME

Justin Wright leads Asheville with 15 double-digit scoring games and is currently on a 13 game streak of scoring double-digit points. Wright leads the team, averaging 17.1 points per game, and has a .500 field goal percentage as he is 100-of-200 from the field this season. Wright also leads the team with a .441 3-point shooting percentage, an .811 free throw percentage and 20 steals. He is second on the team with 45 assists. 

SOLOMON'S SCORING IMPACT

Toyaz Solomon ranks second on the team in scoring at 16.8 points per game and leads Asheville in rebounding (6.8 rpg) and blocked shots (16). He also paces the Bulldogs with 108 made field goals, a total that ranks 25th nationally. Solomon has reset his career high three times this season, most recently pouring in 34 points against Charleston Southern last Saturday.

Solomon is closing in on multiple milestones, needing 14 points to reach 1,000 career points at Asheville, 55 rebounds to reach 500, and two blocks to reach 100.

TAYLOR PROVIDING THE SPARK

Through three conference games, Kameron Taylor is averaging 22.0 points per game. Overall, he averages 16.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per contest, ranking second on the team in rebounding. Taylor also leads Asheville with 53 assists and ranks second with 12 blocks. He tops the team with 79 made free throws and ranks second in the Big South in both free throws made and attempted. This season, he has led the team in rebounding seven times and in assists 10 times.

PATRICK'S PERIMETER SHOOTING

Patrick is leading Asheville with 37 3-pointers after sinking six in Asheville's victory over Longwood this past Wednesday. Overall he is averaging 10.3 points per game and in conference play he is averaging 10.7 points per game with eight triples. 

Patrick leads the conference in minutes per game (33:41), followed closely by Taylor (33:35). Wright ranks fifth and Solomon sixth.

A LOOK AT RADFORD

Radford is being led this season by Dennis Parker Jr., who is averaging 19.8 points per game. Parker is leading the league in points per game and total points (337) and is No. 12 in the nation in points and No. 38 in points per game. Parker also leads the league and is No. 15 in the nation in field goals with 115. 

Jaylon Johnson leads the league in steals (37) and steals per game (2.18). He is No. 16 in the nation in steals and No. 35 in steals per game. Johnson is averaging 11.0 points per game. 

Del Jones is the third Highlander averaging double-digit points with 15.2. 

Radford is currently on a four game win streak and is 2-0 in conference play with wins over USC Upstate and Presbyterian. 

Radford is led by first-year head coach Zach Chu, who brings nine years of NBA experience and most recently served as Chief Strategist at SMU.
