LAST TIME OUT
Ten top-five finishes and two school records from Alison Graf highlighted an impressive weekend at the Tryon Winter Invitational (Jan. 15–16). Following the weekend's success, the Bulldogs swept the Big South Weekly Honors (announced Jan. 21) for the first time in program history. Alison Graf was named Women's Track Athlete of the Week — the first time a Bulldog has earned the accolade since 2013. Shemarr Session earned Men's Track Athlete of the Week, the second weekly honor of his career, and Kelechi Anyanwu was named Co-Freshman of the Week.
Graf lowered her own school record in the 1,000 meters to 2:49.50, taking the lead from the gun and extending it for an impressive victory. Her new record is also the second-fastest mark in Big South history. Graf then doubled back to win the 600 meters in a school-record time of 1:34.70 — more than two seconds under the previous mark — which now ranks sixth on the conference's all-time list.
Shemarr Session captured the men's 200 meters in 21.55, with Kelechi Anyanwu close behind in third at 21.63.
Jaelyn Arnold secured a second-place finish in the women's shot put with a personal-best mark of 12.47 meters, moving her from No. 5 to No. 3 on the program's all-time list.
Stephen Pryor placed third overall in the men's heptathlon with 4,426 points, entering straight in at No. 2 in program history and just 55 points shy of the school record. Pryor also claimed first place in the high jump, earning 696 points.
