Track and Field Returns to Tryon for Winter Invitational

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - After an impressive season opener, the UNC Asheville Track and Field team will return to Tryon for the Tryon International Winter Invitational this Friday (Jan. 16) and Saturday (Jan. 17).Â
Friday's field events will begin at 2 p.m., starting with the 60m hurdles as part of the women's pentathlon, and running events will start at 6:30 p.m. with the men's 1,000m final. The meet will conclude on Saturday at 4:40 p.m. with the first section of the 4x400m relays. Results for all events can be found here.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bulldogs posted a strong showing at the UNC Asheville Collegiate Opener last Saturday (Jan. 10), setting three school records and adding four new names to the program's all-time top-five list.
Nkosi Jeju reset the school record in the men's long jump with a mark of 7.40 meters. Kelechi Anyanwu established a new program record in the men's 300 meters, clocking 34.29, while Bennett Moreno lowered the men's 1,000-meter record to 1:22.08—a mark that had stood since 1995.
Additional notable performances included Marika Dickel, who won the women's 1,000 meters and moved into fourth all-time with a time of 3:11.42. Jaelyn Arnold placed second in the women's weight throw, improving her No. 2 all-time ranking with a personal-best throw of 15.51 meters. Arnold also recorded a personal best of 12.10 meters in the shot put, entering the all-time list at No. 5.
On the men's side, Blake Hawks finished second in the triple jump with a mark of 13.91 meters, ranking third all-time. Murielle Jeanite added her name to the record book by moving into fourth all-time in the women's 300 meters with a time of 41.70.
