ASHEVILLE'S LAST TIME OUT

UNC Asheville picked up a commanding 91-72 road victory at Radford on Saturday to move to 2-2 in Big South Conference play. The Bulldogs never trailed in the contest, controlling the action from the opening tip and building their largest lead late in the second half.

Sophomore Kameron Taylor led all scorers with 27 points, adding five assists, five rebounds, and three steals while shooting 50% from the field and 8-of-11 from the free-throw line. DJ Patrick erupted for a career-high 24 points, knocking down a career-best seven three-pointers.

Toyaz Solomon recorded a 12-point, 12-rebound double-double, his fifth of the season, and Justin Wright chipped in 16 points and six assists. The Bulldogs shot 53.4% from the field and hit 11 three-pointers, while outrebounding Radford 43-35.

KT EARNS WEEKLY HONORS

Sophomore Kameron Taylor earned Big South Conference Co-Player of the Week honors after a standout week in which he led UNC Asheville to a perfect 2-0 stretch. Taylor paced the Bulldogs in scoring in both games, as he averaged 25.5 points on the week. Over the two contests, he shot 47.1% from the field, hit four three-pointers, went 15-for-20 from the free-throw line, and contributed 10 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. Nationally, Taylor ranked among the top scorers for the week and on the season leads Asheville in scoring (17.2 ppg), assists, and free throws made.

Taylor is tied for first in the league with eight games with 20-or-more points.

DJ FROM DEEP

Senior DJ Patrick averaged 21 points last week as he sank 13 3-pointers. On the season, Patrick leads the league and ranks No. 33 nationally in three-point percentage at 42.3%. He averages 11.2 points per game and 14.0 in conference play.

SOLOMON CLOSING IN ON MILESTONES 

Toyaz Solomon is on track to become the 70th player in Big South history with 1,000 career points and 500 career rebounds, as well as just the 20th player in the conference record book with 1,000 points, 500 rebounds, and 100 blocked shots. Solomon enters this week with 998 points, 457 rebounds, and 99 blocks during his time in Asheville.

WRIGHT STAYS CONSISTENT

Justin Wright has started and played in all 18 games this season and has reached double-digit scoring in 16 games, and is on a 14-game streak of double-digit outings. On the season, he is averaging 17.0 points per game.

MORRELL ON THE CLIMB

Head Coach Mike Morrell is currently 15th all-time in Big South history with 124 overall wins, and needs three victories to move into a tie for 14th.

AS A TEAM

The Bulldogs are making a league-best 38.0 percent from 3-point range in Big South action. DJ Patrick was 13-of-24 (54.2 percent) from 3-point range last week. Taylor has eclipsed 20 points in all four league tilts and is tied for first in conference games scoring with 23.3. Daniel Thomas is averaging 4.0 offensive rebounds in Big South play.

A LOOK AT PRESBYTERIAN

Presbyterian is 1-2 in league play following a 77-70 loss on the road at Longwood this past Saturday. Redshirt junior forward Jaylen Peterson led all scorers with 21 points. 

Jonah Pierce leads the Blue Hose in scoring at 15.1 points per game. Pierce leads the Big South and ranks 30th in the nation in rebounding at 9.1 boards per game. Pierce is 12th in the nation with a Big South-leading eight double-doubles. Junior guard Carl Parrish is second on the team in scoring at 12.9 points per game while connecting on a team-high 42 three-point field goals this season. As a team, Presbyterian is shooting 46.0 percent from the field while averaging 69.8 points per game. Presbyterian ranks second in the Big South in scoring defense after limiting its opponents to 69.8 points per game. The Blue Hose are second in the Big South and 71st in the nation in rebounding margin, averaging 5.3 rebounds per game more than their opponents.

Asheville leads the all-time series against Presbyterian, 30–14, including a 23–8 advantage in the Division I era. Last season, the teams split the regular-season meetings, with Asheville earning a 96–87 road win in Clinton before the Blue Hose responded with a 64–59 victory at Kimmel Arena. The Bulldogs have won eight of the last 10 matchups against Presbyterian and hold an 11–5 record in road games against the Blue Hose in the DI era.
