09.07.2025 | Women's Soccer
JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - Senior goalkeeper Gracie Murray recorded career save No. 150 and took sole possession of seventh on the all-time career saves list in a tough 1-0 loss at East Tennessee State on Sunday (Sept. 7). Murray becomes the seventh goalkeeper in program history to eclipse 150 career saves.
Â
Despite the loss, the Bulldogs are still off to their best start through seven matches since 2023.
Â
The Bulldogs played stout defense in the first half but were unable to generate much offense in the opening frame. Gracie Murray came up with seven saves in the period to keep the match scoreless headed to the break. ETSU posted four corner kicks and seven total shots in the first half.
Â
Murray made her biggest save of the day for career save No. 150 in the 51st minute, when ETSU was set up with a corner kick in the near end. The ball was played into the box and played back out by Asheville's defense, before ETSU played it back across the box and got a clean header on the ball. Murray was cat-like getting across the box to make the point-blank save and keep the match scoreless.
Â
Olivia Simpson posted one shot for the Bulldogs in the match, while Asheville also finished with one corner kick. Murray (2-2-1) finished the day with eight saves between the pipes.
Â
The Bulldogs (4-2-1) return home to Greenwood Field to host Furman on Thursday (Sept. 11). Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.

ETSU would finally break the ice and Asheville's shutout streak in the 60th minute, when a ball played in through a scramble found the feet of Reagan Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald stashed it home in the lower left corner to give the Buccaneers a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs did start to mount some offensive pressure after that but were not able to find the back of the net.51' | Career save No. 1⃣5⃣0⃣ for Gracie Murray and it's a BIG one 💪
