Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Tie at East Tennessee State

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer played to a 1-1 tie Tuesday night (Sept. 16) at East Tennessee State in non-conference action.

The teams played back and forth fir the first 40 minutes of the half, before the Bulldogs were able to sustain some offensive pressure. Asheville finally broke through for the match's first goal in the 42nd minute, when Lennart Granzow scored his first goal as a Bulldog for a 1-0 lead that they ultimately took to the half. The teams focused on possession in the opening half, with Asheville having just two shots holding ETSU to just three. Asheville also owned the only two corner kicks in the opening frame.

The teams played to more of the same early in the second half, before ETSU would maintain an offensive presence in the half. Gabriel Betancourt would tie the match with his first goal of the season in the 61st minute, with the goal ultimately deciding the match. Asheville totaled three shots in the second half, while ETSU mounted seven.

Asheville totaled five shots to ETSU's 10 in the match, while ETSU edged Asheville 3-2 in shots on goal. Asheville also edged ETSU 5-2 in corner kicks in the match.
