Men's Soccer Opens 2025 Season at Home Against Howard

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer opens its 2025 season at home against Howard on Thursday (Aug. 21).

It will be the team's Blue Out match! Fans, be sure to wear blue and be loud!

UNC Asheville was picked fourth in the Big South Conference Preseason Coaches' Poll and had seven players named to the conference's Top Returners Watch List.
Senior Aysa Hamid was named amongst the forwards while fifth-year Edvin Grolimund, sophomore Charlie Wood, senior Louis Beckett and junior Jack Steel were named amongst the midfielders. Fifth-year Benian Yao and senior Viðar Ragnarsson were also listed among the defenders. Yao is also Asheville's lone returning All-Conference selection from a season ago.
Asheville is coming off a season where they went 7-4-4 including 3-2-2 in an all-road conference schedule.
Howard posted a 2-11-3 record in 2024 including a 2-5-1 mark in the Northeast Conference.
Howard returns one of its two All-Conference selections from a season ago in sophomore forward Daniil Kaban, who tallied two goals and one assist for five points as a freshman.
This will be the second meeting all-time between Asheville and Howard, and the first matchup between the programs since 2013. Asheville won the previous matchup 2-1 at Howard back on Sept. 20, 2013. This will also be Asheville's first match ever against a current member of the Northeast Conference.
