Anna Doane '24 Signs Professional Contract with Wexford FC

WEXFORD TOWN, Ireland - UNC Asheville Women's Soccer alum Anna Doane '24 has signed her first professional contract with Wexford FC of the League of Ireland.

Doane knew she had aspirations of playing at the next level, focusing on clubs in Ireland in honor of her late grandparents. While playing with the Carolina Ascent of the USLW, Doane was able to sign with Wexford.

"I am beyond grateful and blessed for this new opportunity I get to pursue," said Doane. "This is a moment where I can stop to look back at all of my hard work over the years and be proud of myself for what I have accomplished. It is an honor to get to play in the home country of my late grandparents, and my goal is to make them proud. My time at Asheville has taught me that nothing is ever handed to you and it showed me what real determination looks like. My coaches continued to push me every year to better my game, and I am very thankful for all their guidance on and off the field. I don't think I would be where I am today without UNC Asheville and the surrounding community."

A four-year starter at Asheville, Doane appeared in 66 matches making 65 starts in her career totaling two goals and four assists for eight points as a defender. For her career she also totaled 5,601 minutes on the pitch. She was a three-time All-Conference Second Team selection, while also being named to the 2024 Big South Conference All-Tournament Team. In the classroom she was a two-time College Sports Communicators Academic All-District selection. Â

Doane graduated from UNC Asheville in December 2024 with a bachelor's degree in environmental science.
