Trio Lands on WGCA All-American Scholar Team

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. –  The 2024-25 WGCA All-American Scholar Team was announced today (June 30), with 1,499 women's collegiate golfers from 403 programs recognized with this prestigious honor. The UNC Asheville women's golf team had three individuals recognized on the scholar team: Ally Kerr, Jordyn Arts, and Claudia Salvador

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players. To be selected, a student-athlete must:

  • Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
  • Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
  • Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.

Kerr played in 11 regular-season tournaments before finishing 25th out of 51 golfers in the Big South Conference stroke play round to help Asheville advance to match play of the Big South Conference Championship. Kerr's best finish of the season was a 15th-place finish out of 91 golfers at the Velvet Classic (Sept. 16-17). Kerr averaged a 78.9 on the season and graduated with a 3.725 GPA as an Economics major. 

Arts played in 10 tournaments for Asheville during her freshman season. She competed in 29 total rounds and had an average score of 80.5. Her best finish of the season was 33rd out of 71 competitors at the Terrier Intercollegiate (Oct. 21-22). Arts finished her freshman year with a 3.52 GPA and is a Business major. 

Salvador played in seven tournaments this year, with her highest finish being at the Big South Conference Championship, where she finished 18th out of 51 individuals. She averaged a 79.5 in 22 total rounds. Salvador was named to the Big South All-Academic team and graduated with a 3.958 GPA as an Economics major at UNC Asheville.
