Men's Tennis Ready for Three Matches This Week

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Tennis readies for three non-conference matches this week.

UNC Asheville at East Tennessee State

About the Bulldogs - Asheville enters the week at 6-1 after a 7-0 win over Mars Hill on Friday (Feb. 21). Asheville holds a 26-16 combined singles record as well as a 12-4 doubles record so far on the season. Freddy Murray leads the Bulldogs with six wins in singles play, while Tarek Erlewein has five wins and Olle Sonesson Lidholt has four wins. Trevor Gray and Cian Ingles each have three wins in singles play, while Griffin Lovern and Luke Ruecker each have two wins and Sai Gandepalli has one. Three doubles tandems each have three wins on the season, while three others each have one win on the year.

About the Buccaneers - ETSU comes into the week at 2-4 overall after a 5-2 win over Lipscomb on Sunday (Feb. 23). ETSU holds a combined 14-22 singles record along with a 4-9 doubles record. Pedro Cressoni leads the way in singles play with four wins, while Carlos Gonzales has three wins and three other Bucs have two wins each. Peter Kalocsai also has one win in singles play. Fransisco Lamas/Juan Andres Listo and James Sim/Cressoni each have two wins in doubles play on the season.

Series History - This will be the fifth all-time meeting between Asheville and ETSU, with ETSU leading the all-time series 3-1. Asheville won last year's meeting 4-1 back on Feb. 9, 2024.

UNC Asheville at Jacksonville State

About the Gamecocks - Jax State comes into the week at 3-4 overall after a 5-2 loss at Denver on Sunday (Feb. 23). The Gamecocks have a 19-19 combined record in singles play, along with an 11-6 combined doubles record. Matei Palcau and David Krasner each have five wins in singles play, while Charlie Penman also has three wins in singles play. Timo De Visser, Marco Milosavljevic and Alin Fatu each have two wins in singles play. Lucius Soller/Zach Murphy lead the way at a perfect 6-0 in doubles play, while Penman/De Visser have three wins in doubles play along with Logan Haga/De Visser having two wins in doubles play. 3-34

Series History - This will be the second all-time meeting between Asheville and Jacksonville State, with Jax State winning the only prior matchup 4-0 last year on Mar. 18, 2024.

Series History - This will be the third all-time meeting between Asheville and Kennesaw State, with Kennesaw State leading the series 2-0. KSU won the last meeting in the series 4-2 back on Feb. 24, 2024.
