HIGH POINT, N.C. – UNC Asheville volleyball fell in straight sets to Big South leader High Point on Saturday afternoon, dropping the match 25-10, 25-19, 25-21.
The Bulldogs (8-16, 5-6 Big South) were paced offensively by Kylie Cackovic and Albertine van der Goot, who tallied seven kills each. Cackovic added seven digs to her stat line, and van der Goot led the team with a .294 clip. Payton Rolfsen dished out a team-high 16 assists and added eight digs and a service ace. Michelle Thao led the defense with 13 digs.
After a slow start in the opening set, Asheville responded with improved play in the second and third frames, keeping the score tight midway through each. Despite the competitive effort, the Panthers' efficient hitting and strong net presence proved to be the difference, as they finished with a .375 team hitting percentage and 12 total blocks.
Asheville will close out its home portion of the season next weekend, as the Bulldogs host Winthrop on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m., before hosting Gardner-Webb on Nov. 8 at 2 p.m.
