Volleyball Travels to Face Presbyterian and Charleston Southern

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The UNC Asheville volleyball team is hitting the road this weekend to face Presbyterian on Friday (Oct. 24) and Charleston Southern on Saturday (Oct. 25).

A LOOK AT THE BLUE HOSE
Presbyterian is 5-14 overall and 1-6 in league play. The Blue Hose went 1-1 last weekend, defeating Gardner-Webb in three sets before falling to Winthrop in three.
The Blue Hose are third in the Big South in blocks per set, averaging 2.19. They are also third in team digs per set (16.09) and fourth in opponent hitting percentage (.196).
Junior Julia Yurkovich led Presbyterian last weekend after recording a match-high 15 kills against Gardner-Webb on Friday. Yurkovich is ranked sixth in the Big South in kills per set (2.91). Anisa Dorlouis is No. 2 in the league in assists, averaging 8.43 a set. Elyse Hutchinson is No. 2 in blocks per set (1.03), while Courtney Williams is fifth (0.97).
The Bulldogs defeated the Blue Hose in four sets earlier this month (Oct. 4), posting 49 kills to Presbyterian's 41. Asheville out-blocked the Blue Hose 11-3 and held them to a 0.94 hitting percentage.

A LOOK AT THE BUCCANEERS
Charleston Southern is 11-10 overall and 3-4 in Big South play. The Buccaneers went 1-1 this past weekend, losing to Winthrop in three sets Friday (Oct. 17) before defeating Gardner-Webb in a five-set match on Saturday (Oct. 19).
Charleston Southern is second in the Big South in digs per set (16.32) and opponent hitting percentage behind Asheville. The Bucs lead the conference in opponent kills (11.97 per set) and opponent assists (11.01).
Setter Tristin Sutton recorded her 400th assist on Friday (Oct. 17). She is No. 5 in the Big South, averaging 5.55 assists per set. Skylar Yates leads the conference in total service aces (33) and is No. 7 in kills (2.83). Yates recorded 28 kills on the weekend. Libero Presley Morris recorded 26 digs against Gardner-Webb, totaling 38 across both matches.
The Bulldogs fell to the Bucs in a four-set match on Oct.3, despite leading in digs and aces.
BULLDOG BITES
The Bulldogs enter this week following a 1-1 weekend as Asheville fell to High Point in four sets on Friday (Oct. 17) before sweeping Radford in three on Saturday (Oct. 18). Michelle Thao recorded her 1,000th dig in Friday's match, while Freshman Addie Brookbank recorded 27 kills and four service aces on the weekend. Brookbank was named Big South Freshman of the Week for her efforts.
Lydia Pate recorded eight kills while hitting .400, and a season-best eight total blocks against High Point. Pate recorded 13 kills, five digs, and 11 total blocks on the weekend. Setters Payton Rolfsen and Selina Koc combined for 78 assists on the weekend. Koc recorded 43, while Rolfsen tallied 35.
The Bulldogs lead the Big South in total blocks with 178, averaging 2.37 per set. Asheville is No. 2 in opponent kills, holding opponents to 11.41 per set. Michelle Thao is second in the conference in total digs (386) and digs per set (5.15). Kylie Cackovic is fifth in kills per set (3.16) and points per set (3.46).
