Kishida's Late Strike Earns 1-1 Draw at Presbyterian on Wednesday

CLINTON, S.C. - UNC Asheville Women's Soccer earned a 1-1 draw at Presbyterian on Wednesday (Oct. 1) in Big South Conference play thanks to a late strike from senior Akari Kishida.
The teams spent the first 20 minutes testing the waters offensively, before Presbyterian would turn up the offensive pressure over the next few minutes. Presbyterian would strike first in the 23rd minute, when Lindsey Malyszek would score her fourth goal of the season off assists from Allie Williams and Sloan Spees. Presbyterian would control the remainder of the half on offense, outshooting Asheville 7-3 in the period along with earning six corner kicks to Asheville's three. Presbyterian would take it's 1-0 lead to the half.
Asheville would manage to fight their way back into the offensive end late in the game, despite Presbyterian outshooting them 8-4 in the second half. Asheville needed something to break offensively, before Kishida was taken down in the offensive half. In the 80th minute, the senior launched an absolute beautiful strike to the top right corner of the net off the ensuing free kick for her third of the season to tie the contest 1-1.
Asheville totaled seven shots with four on goal in the contest, to go along with three corner kicks. Abby Foulk and Kishida each had two shots in the match, while Campbell Stoll, Azalea Mihailovich and Lilly Graumann each posted one shot in the match. Gracie Murray (2-5-2) made six saves between the pipes in the match.
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (Oct. 4) at Winthrop in Big South Conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. from Rock Hill, S.C. with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
