Abigail Wilson Eclipses 800 Career Points in Loss at Radford

RADFORD, Va. - Fifth-year forward Abigail Wilson eclipsed 800 points for her college career in a 63-47 loss at Radford Wednesday night (Jan. 29) in Big South Conference play.

Radford jumped out to leads of 7-2 and 12-5 in the first quarter, before Asheville rallied in the final four minutes of the period to close the gap to just 16-15 after 10 minutes.

Asheville took its first lead of the game two minutes into the second quarter off a three-pointer from Skylar Bailey, before Asheville would stretch its lead to four with a triple from Dakota McCaughan with just over four minutes left in the half. The teams traded buckets in the final minutes of the first half as Asheville led 25-24 at the break.

A cold-shooting third quarter saw the lead slip away for Asheville, as Radford won the period 18-9 to pull away in the game before stretching their lead in a 21-13 fourth quarter to bring the game to its final score.

Asheville shot 35.3 percent (18-51), 26.1 percent (6-23) from long range and 62.5 percent (5-8) from the foul line in the game while outscoring Radford 16-13 off turnovers. Asheville also tallied 16 points in the paint, three on second chances, five on fast breaks and 13 off the bench. Wilson led the scoring effort with 14 points to eclipse 800 for her college career, while McCaughan added nine points in the game.
