Men's Soccer Drops League Opener at High Point Friday Night

HIGH POINT, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer dropped its Big South Conference opener at High Point Friday night (Sept. 20) by a score of 2-1.

High Point struck first for a 1-0 lead in the seventh minute, before doubling their lead in the 14th minute and ultimately taking a 2-0 lead to the break.

Asheville would finally break through in the 73rd minute when a play to the far side would find the feet of Myles Edmondson. Edmondson lofted a ball on net that found the far corner over the top of High Point's keeper getting the Bulldogs back within one. The goal was Edmondson's third of his Asheville career. High Point would hold their ground defensively until the final whistle.

Each team registered 11 shots in the match, with High Point earning the 3-2 edge in shots on goal in the contest. Asheville outworked High Point 4-3 for corner kicks in the match. Seth Hammond paced the offense with three shots in the match, while Aysa Hamid and Louis Beckett each had two shots in the contest. Edmondson, Michael Wilkerson and Rinta Takagi each had one shot in the match. Charlie Farrar (4-2-1) made one save between the pipes in the contest.
