Men's Soccer Plays to 1-1 Draw with ETSU Tuesday Night

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer played to a 1-1 draw with East Tennessee State Tuesday night (Sept. 24) at Greenwood Field in non-conference action.

The Bulldogs took the early lead in the sixth minute when an ETSU handball in their own box set up Brendan Herb on the penalty dot. The Captain buried his second of the season and his fourth career penalty kick goal to give the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead. The teams traded chances and runs throughout the remainder of the first half, with a few stellar plays by both goaltenders as well. Asheville ultimately took a 1-0 lead to the half. ETSU would score the equalizer in the 69th minute when Oliver Einarsson ran down a long ball played forward by Nico Kross. He then fed it through the Asheville box to a hard-charging Gabriel Ramos, who stashed home his second of the season. The chances favored Asheville in the second half, but the match ended in Asheville's second draw of the season.

Asheville outshot ETSU 21-8 in the match including 6-4 in shots on goal, while earning seven corner kicks to ETSU's three in the contest. Herb paced the offense matching his career-high with five shots in the match, while Louis Beckett and Seth Hammond each fired four shots in the contest with Beckett matching a career-high. Edvin Grolimund matched a career-high with three shots in the contest, while Aysa Hamid and Charlie Wood each had two shots with Wood setting a new career-best. Owen Lagerwey also tallied his first shot as a Bulldog in the match. Charlie Farrar (4-2-2) made three saves between the pipes in the match.
