ASHEVILLE, N.C. - Following their sweeping victory at the Maryland Eastern Shore Tournament this past weekend, the UNC Asheville volleyball team heads to Charlotte for a Tuesday matchup (Sept. 17).

Tuesday will mark the 24th time since 1986 that the Bulldogs have faced the 49ers. The matchup will be Asheville's last game before they turn their attention to Big South Conference action on Sept. 27.

ASHEVILLE'S LAST TIME OUT

The Bulldogs extended their win streak to five following a stellar performance at the Maryland Eastern Shore Tournament. Saturday saw Asheville produce back-to-back wins over Iona (3-2) and Hampton (3-0).

In their first matchup, the Bulldogs defeated the Gaels in five sets (21-25, 25-16, 28-30, 25-15, 15-9). Albertine van der Goot led the Bulldogs with 16 kills, matching her career-high. Payton Rolfsen and Riley Barr each had double-doubles, with Rolfsen recording 10 assists and 16 digs and Barr recording 18 assists and 16 digs. Asheville also had a hitting percentage of .285%, the highest for the Bulldogs in a five-set match since 2017.

Asheville then defeated the Pirates in a three-set sweep (25-15, 25-22, 25-14). Kylie Cackovic led the team with 10 digs and eight kills, with Rolfsen leading the team with 20 assists. The victory improved Asheville's overall record against the Pirates to 8-2.

Sunday saw the Bulldogs round out the weekend with a 3-0 sweep over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Matilde Teixeira led the team with 15 kills, adding eight digs, three assists, three aces, and a block assist to her stat line to lead the team with 18.5 points in the match. Asheville's overall record against UMES now stands at 4-3.
