Men's Soccer Battles, Falls at Virginia Tech Tuesday Night

 BLACKSBURG, Va. - UNC Asheville Men's Soccer battled, but fell at Virginia Tech Tuesday night (Aug. 27) by a score of 2-0.

The Bulldogs battled through a physical first half, as Virginia Tech capitalized on a penalty kick in the 31st minute to take a 1-0 lead. Asheville totaled five shots in the period, as this week's Big South Conference Defensive Player of the Week Charlie Farrar came up with three saves in the frame.

Virginia Tech stretched its lead with a goal in the 48th minute to ultimately bring the match to its final score, but the Bulldogs would turn up the offensive pressure earning four corner kicks to Virginia Tech's zero in the second half.

In total, Asheville outworked Virginia Tech for corner kicks 7-1. Asheville totaled 11 shots in the match with six coming in the second half. Edvin Grolimund and Louis Beckett each had three shots in the match, while Seth Hammond had two and Brendan Herb, Rinta Takagi and Aysa Hamid each had one. Farrar (1-1-0) finished the night with four saves between the pipes.
