CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Hailey Pendleton and Claudia Salvador of UNC Asheville Women's Golf have earned All-American Scholar honors from the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA), recently announced by the organization.

The pair from UNC Asheville are a part of the 1,497 women's collegiate golfers from 412 programs across the country to receive the honor. To qualify, a student-athlete must:
  • Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher
  • Be an amateur on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season
  • Have played in 50 percent of the institution's regularly-scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship
"What an amazing accomplishment for both Hailey and Claudia," said head coach Ross Cash. "Golf is very challenging with the classroom because of the time missed for travel and competition. I couldn't be more proud of these two."

Pendleton appeared in 10 tournaments and 27 rounds as a senior, finishing the year with a stroke average of 78.8. She logged her first career Top-20 finish at Ball State's Brittany Kelly Classic where she finished in a tie for 20th with teammate Presley Pickron.

This is Pendleton's first career All-American Scholar honor.

The Matthews, N.C. native graduated from UNC Asheville with a bachelor's degree in health and wellness promotion with a 3.55 grade point average.

Salvador appeared in six tournaments and 16 rounds in her first season in Asheville, posting a scoring average of 77.0. She turned in two Top-20 finishes including one Top-10 finish. She finished 12th at Lipscomb's Lady Bison Bay Point Classic (Mar. 22) while also finishing tied for eighth at UAB's Bama Beach Bash (Mar. 17-19). She later earned Second Team All-Conference honors for her performance at the Big South Conference Championship.

This is Salvador's first career All-American Scholar honor.

The Madrid, Spain native holds a 3.92 grade point average in economics.
