ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Tennis opens its first NCAA Regional action at No. 13 Duke on Friday (May 3).

About the Bulldogs - Off their first Big South Conference Championship since 1986, the Bulldogs' men's team (16-7) will travel to Durham, N.C. to face No. 13 Duke in the opening round. Asheville captured the second Big South Conference championship in program history with a 4-1 win over top seed Gardner-Webb back on Apr. 22, along the way notching nine All-Conference honors. Freddy Murray (15-4) and Sam Nicholson (14-5) landed on the All-Conference First Team for singles play, while Rafa Serra and Jon Brann Reid (11-5) were named All-Conference First Team for doubles play. Bruno Serra and Cian Ingles (8-5) as well as the tandem of Nicholson and Murray (nine wins) each landed on the All-Conference Second Team for doubles play. Reid was also the league's Scholar-Athlete of the Year as well as being named to the All-Academic Team.
About the Blue Devils - Duke comes into the match at 18-9, hosting a regional for the 16th time in program history with a record of 27-3 in hosting NCAA regionals. Duke boasts two ACC All-Conference selections in Garrett Johns and Pedro Rodenas who earned All-Conference honors in both singles and doubles play. Johns is currently ranked No. 22 in singles play, and Rodenas is ranked No. 43.
History - This will be the third all-time matchup between Asheville and Duke, and the first since 1987. Duke has won both matches by scores of 9-0.
