04.18.2024 | Women's Golf
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference announced its postseason women's golf awards on Wednesday, and UNC Asheville senior Madyson Gold was selected to the Big South All-Conference Second Team and Big South Conference All-Academic Team, and senior Claudia Salvador was named to the Honorable Mention Team.
Gold, the senior from Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., turned in seven top-15 finishes out of the 11 tournaments the Bulldogs played in this year. Gold is a two-time Golfer of the Week honoree this year, as she earned it following her performance at the Rainbow Wahine Invitational (Oct. 23-25) and at the Brickyard Collegiate (April 8-9).
Gold finished the regular season with four top-10 finishes, putting her tied in third in the Big South. She also finished the regular season at No. 4 in scoring average with a 74.39, resetting the Asheville program single-season record. For her efforts in the classroom, Gold earned All-Academic recognition with a 3.45 GPA in Mass Communications.
Gold is the fourth individual in program history to earn a spot on the All-Conference Teams and is the only individual in program history to be a two-time honoree, as she was named to the All-Conference Second Team in 2023.
Due to her efforts in the Big South Conference Championship, Gold was honored as a member of the All-Championship Team due to her fourth-place finish.
Salvador joined the Bulldogs' women's golf program for the spring portion of the season and earned two top-12 finishes in the six tournaments she competed in. Salvador's top performance came in the Bama Beach Bash (March 18-19), as she finished tied in eighth with rounds of 76 and 71. Salvador was 1-under on the second day with four birdies.
