Giletti Leads Asheville Following Day One of Golfweek Intercollegiate

PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team kicked off the Golfweek Intercollegiate on Monday, and after 18 holes, the Bulldogs are in ninth place out of 19 teams.
Asheville shot 14-over par to open the tournament and will enter the second round with a score of 298.
Beryl Giletti led Asheville, finishing even on the day at 71. She is tied for fifth place.
Claudia Salvador and Phoebe Carles finished tied in 31st after shooting 4-over par (75).
Madyson Gold is currently tied for 51st after shooting 6-over par (77), and Hailey Pendleton is tied for 71st after shooting 8-over par (79).
Giletti led the team with four birdies. Salvador, Carles, and Pendleton each had two birdies.
Asheville is nine strokes behind Cal Poly. The Mustangs are in first place at 5-over par.
Round two of the Golfweek Intercollegiate will resume tomorrow, Tuesday, April 2.
