Weather Shortens Bama Beach Bash to 36 Holes

GULF SHORES, Ala. – The UNC Asheville women's golf team opened day one of the Bama Beach Bash, hosted by UAB, on Sunday. Due to weather, the first round of the tournament will be completed on Monday, March 18. 

With 17 teams in the tournament, seven of the 10 teams were unable to begin competition on Sunday. Asheville's five, consisting of Madyson Gold, Phoebe Carles, Beryl Giletti, Claudia Salvador, and Hailey Pendelton, completed 11-14 holes. Giletti completed 12 holes and was tied in first at 2-under par.

Due to the weather delay, the tournament will become a 36-hole tournament. The teams that began round one will finish their rounds on Monday, and the teams that were unable to begin their Sunday rounds will start on Monday. The tournament will conclude on Tuesday as originally scheduled.
