Bulldogs Notch Third Straight Shutout with 7-0 Victory over Lenoir-Rhyne

ASHEVILLE, N.C. - UNC Asheville Men's Tennis notched its third straight shutout with a 7-0 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne on Sunday (Feb. 4) at the Asheville Racquet Club Downtown. According to program records dating back to 2007, this marks the first time Asheville has ever won three consecutive matches by shutout.
The Bulldogs won two out of three doubles matches to secure the doubles point, before sweeping all six singles matches.
Freddy Murray and Tarek Erlewein got things started beating Connor Donley and Nevio Dux 6-2 at No. 3 doubles, before Jon Brann Reid and Rafa Serra clinched the doubles point with a 6-4 win over Rufus Plane and Vadym Rogynskyi at No. 1. Murray went on the blank Zachary Cox 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, before Erlewein beat Rogynskyi 7-6 (3-0), 6-3 at No. 3. Reid went on to beat Dux 6-2, 6-7 (0-3), 6-1 at No. 2, before Bruno Serra beat Raphael Champaud 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5. Asheville closed things out with a 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 win for Cian Ingles over Plane at No. 4 and a 6-4, 6-2 win over Donley for Rafa Serra.
