Five UNC Asheville Women’s Soccer Players Earn College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® Honors

GREENWOOD, Ind. - Five UNC Asheville Women's Soccer players have earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District® honors, announced by the organization today (Tuesday, Nov. 19).
Ava Bjorkman-Tracy, Daysha Chaney, Addie Cooper, Anna Doane and Shae Hassig each earned the award for Asheville. To qualify for Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must:
This is Bjorkman-Tracy's third career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of St. Paul, Minn.
Chaney appeared in all 17 matches as a senior, making 12 starts. She totaled two goals and two assists for six points on the season. Chaney scored goals against VMI (Sept. 1) and High Point (Oct. 26) while notching assists at Western Carolina (Aug. 18) and against South Carolina State (Sept. 22). She played a season and career-high 71 minutes against Wofford (Sept. 12). Academically, Chaney posts a 3.59 grade point average in political science.
This is Chaney's first career Academic All-District nomination. She is a native of Wilmington, N.C.
Cooper played and started in 14 matches this season. She scored one goal and added two assists for four points. Cooper tallied her first career goal in the 7-2 win over South Carolina State (Sept. 22). She dished out assists against Jacksonville State (Aug. 29) and South Carolina State (Sept. 22). Cooper played all 90 minutes at Mercer (Aug. 25), against Jacksonville State, VMI (Sept. 1) and at Gardner-Webb (Oct. 16). Academically, she holds a 3.84 grade point in management.
This is Cooper's first career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Cary, N.C.
Doane played and started in 16 matches this season and was instrumental on UNC Asheville's back line. The team captain totaled 1,360 minutes and played all 90 minutes 13 times. She totaled three shots including two on goal. Doane was also named to the Big South Conference All-Conference Second Team and to the Big South Conference All-Tournament Team. Academically, she holds a 3.78 grade point average in environmental science.
This is Doane's second career Academic All-District honor. She is a native of Jackson, Mich.
Hassig appeared in all 17 matches making 16 starts on Asheville's back line. She totaled three shots with one on target. Hassig also totaled 1,173 minutes on the back line for Asheville, playing all 90 minutes seven times this season. Academically, Hassig posts a 3.55 grade point average in psychology.
This is Hassig's first career Academic All-District selection. She is a native of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.
