Abigail Wilson Joins 500 Rebound Club in Loss at UNC Greensboro

GREENSBORO, N.C. -Â Fifth-year forward Abigail Wilson joined the 500-Rebound Club in UNC Asheville's 59-48 loss at UNC Greensboro on Tuesday (Nov. 19). Wilson becomes the first Bulldog to eclipse 500 career rebounds since Nadiria Evans (520, 2017-22).

UNCG jumped out to a 5-0 lead, before Asheville responded to tie the game at five four minutes in. The Spartans jumped out to another five-point lead, before Asheville countered with a run to tie the game at 16 in the final minute of the period before taking an 18-16 lead on an Alana Swift jumper that beat the buzzer to end the quarter.

UNCG won the rebounding battle 25-23, while Wilson finished off her first double-double of the season with a season-high 15 points and a season-high 10 boards. Alana Swift added eight points, while Jordan Tuff and LaImani Simmons each had seven. Taylor Wilkins contributed five points in her first career start, while Nycerra Minnis and Skylar Bailey each had three points. Tuff pulled down four rebounds while Wilkins had three, along with one each from Minnis, Dakota McCaughan, Swift, Simmons and Bailey. McCaughan and Swift each led the offense with two assists, while Tuff, Wilkins, Minnis, Simmons and Sydney Burris each had one helper in the game. Swift and Bailey each posted a team-high two steals in the game with the first two swipes of Bailey's career, along with one each from McCaughan and Burris. Â
