Three Bulldogs Earn Big South Conference All-Conference Honors

FULL BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE RELEASE
 
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Three UNC Asheville Women's Soccer players have earned All-Conference honors, announced by the Big South Conference today (Thursday, Oct. 31).
 
Forward Mercedes McNabb was named to both the All-Conference Second Team and All-Freshman Team, while senior defender Anna Doane was also named to the Second Team. Ava Bjorkman-Tracy was also named All-Conference Honorable Mention as well as to the All-Academic Team.
 
McNabb appeared in all 16 matches this season, making 14 starts as a freshman. She leads the team and is tied for fifth in the Big South Conference in goals with six, while also leading the team and being tied for eighth in points with 13. She earned Player of the Week honors on Sept. 23 after recording a hat trick against South Carolina State, becoming the first freshman to record a hat trick since Paige Trent against USC Upstate on Aug. 30, 2012.
 
This is McNabb's first career All-Conference selection. The East Maitland, Australia native is a biology major.
 
Doane played and started in 15 matches this season on the back line, totaling 1,270 minutes on the pitch. Doane helped the Bulldogs to two clean sheets this season, playing all 90 minutes 12 times this season.
 
This is Doane's third career All-Conference selection. The Jackson, Mich. native is an environmental science major.
 
Bjorkman-Tracy appeared in all 16 matches this season, making 14 starts and totaling 1,087 minutes on the pitch. She scored four goals and tallied two assists in the midfield for 10 points, including scoring the game-winner against Jacksonville State. In the classroom, she posts a 3.93 grade point average in environmental science with a minor in economics.
 
This is Bjorkman-Tracy's first career All-Conference selection and her first career selection to the All-Academic Team. She is a native of St. Paul, Minn.
 
The Bulldogs return to action on Saturday (Nov. 2) making their first Big South Conference tournament appearance since 2016 to face 3-seed Radford in the quarterfinal. Kickoff is set for 7:00 p.m. from Radford, Va. with video and live stats available at www.uncabulldogs.com.
